Scam Season

1. How are cyber criminals savvier today than in the past?
They are using spear phishing to directly target richer families. They are being more careful when making theyre web sites or sending theyre emails making everything look authentic. They fake caller ID's to trick people into giving their personal information.

2. The article explains new cellphone crimes. Why do they work so well? 
Because the text's look authentic saying their credit cards are deactivated and people instantly assume that it must be true instead of calling their real bank number and finding out so they just leave their information with the number.

4. What would you tell people to help them avoid these scams. Provide 2 tips to avoid getting ripped off.
Look for mispellings and grammar errors, and call the actual company and verify if its real.

Work at Home Scams tell people that they will send them checks, items, or other things for them to resell or cash and they get to keep a percentage of check or item that they sell.  After doing that they send the rest of the cash to a new company.

Fake FBI- you get an email with someone claiming to be a FBI official and asking you to click on a link but if you do your computer can get hit with spam and malware virus's

This scam is when you get an email saying you allegedly won merchandise and you need to send cash right away..you send away your cash and never see the items
